Fast disk : Used it to replace SATA Hard disk.

Had one laptop and a desktop, both with older SATA hard disks. The SSD for the laptop fits perfectly. For the Desktop, since the old SATA was larger in size, i put only one screw and its fine for me since, my desktop does not move around. Installation was a breeze, the drive was recognized by the BIOS and was able to transfer data quickly and reliably. Both computers now take about 12 seconds to boot and the read and write when opening files are very fast- Word, Excel, PPT take about 3-4 seconds to open a file.

FAST!

I bought 2 of these. I use one in an old Dell D620 I made from scrap parts that's been running for 15 years, and another for terminal experiments with Linux Mint. The one in the Dell is dual boot for Windows 7 I use for service calls. It has sped the old laptop up incredibly. I also installed Linux Mint for everyday use.The other one is for creating custom Linux Mint installable ISOs for flash drives for portable or desktop systems. At the price I paid, the speed is great. I've been pounding the daylights out of the Linux drive for weeks. Boot time is fantastic.Since I didn't need a lot of storage for my use 240G served my purposes. I generally shy away from SSDs because they degrade over time depending on the amount of writes and deletions, so in my applications of low disk rewrites they should serve me for a long time.I went with Crucial because of their long history in the memory business. About 8 years ago I specified a Crucial 320G SSD for a friend who wanted to build a new system for his recording studio. At that time it was $340. We mounted the Windows OS on the SSD, but data storage is on a standard HDD mirrored RAID. The state of the art has had quantum leaps since then, but the system is still running strong after 2 Windows upgrades. Since the system allowed, we also installed a 64G Crucial SSD for a cache drive. Considering a cache drive handles a lot of rewrites should bear witness to Crucial products.I have never been disappointed by a Crucial memory product. I still have systems from the early 2000's running as they should.

Only $21 For 240GB Of Backup Space

Instead of buying blank dvd's or cd's to backup my computer files I bought this $21 Crucial BX500 240GB SSD drive. Blank dvds/cds don't last that long unless you buy Archival Grade [100 years]. I had many blank cd's and dvd's go bad just sitting in a box for many years; I learned over time they go bad and that's true. I believe an SSD drive will last much longer than dvd/cd when backing up my computer files. At first Windows 10 didn't see this drive; I had to click START and open the Disk Management program; Immediately it asked me if I wanted to Initialize the new SSD I installed; I said yes and did that; Then I had to quick format the disk and give it a drive letter; Then it showed up in Windows 10. Then I was able to backup all my files onto that new SSD drive. Works perfectly for what I bought it for. Only $21 for 240GB of backup space; I like that.

New life for an old laptop

My old asus i3 laptop didn't have much life left in her. Pretty slow and old windows 10 (not able to upgrade to windows 11). I added an additional 4gb of ram and swapped out my 500gb hdd for this SSD and installed Ubuntu linux. Now it's got new life. Boots up fast; great for a portable laptop; and I mostly use it for "Distributing Computing" where my laptop is connected to thousands of others around the world for good work. This one is connected to folding@home and is used by universities and medical centers around the world working on finding cures to diseases, covid, and many other medical concerns. Simple plug and play with any normal 2.5" hard disk drive. It is SATA iii compatible so there aren't any concerns. If you have an older laptop with a hdd in it, this is the best upgrade you can do. It will make your laptop/computer faster.

Reliable for retro gaming projects

This SSD draws low power and is very fast.Useful for retro gaming - Works on PS3, OG Xbox (with correct conversion hardware), and Wii U (an added benefit is that it draws low enough power to not require a USB splitter to draw extra power as most Wii U guides suggest).I have used this several times and will continue to purchase this SSD whenever I have a project.Very high value for the money

So far so good. 2 TB of storage at a price that's hard to believe.

When it comes to SATA digital drives, especially Solid-State Drives (SSDs), the difference between pricey and cheap options often comes down to a few key factors that affect performance, durability, and overall quality.First up, NAND flash memory and controller play a crucial role. I used Blackmagic Disk Speed Test to get some results, but let it run for a while, and this drive can slow down quite a bit. It was only 34 MB per second! I saw a lot of videos and tutorials about problems with inexpensive SSDs that don’t have flash memory.I used this drive to create a backup startup disk for my Mac mini Pro. Honestly, I can’t tell a big difference between the startup time with the internal drive, which is incredibly fast, and this drive, which is supposed to be super slow. There are some performance differences, but they’re so minor for everyday use that I don’t notice them.Just to let you know, the maximum speed these drives can give is around 500 MB per second. After that, there are a lot of variables that can slow it down. I also had some problems where it would completely crash and fall off the desktop. My Mac mini took a long time to boot because it was repairing the disk. I was starting to get worried that it wouldn’t boot up, but it finally did, and I haven’t had any problems since. So far, I feel like I’ve beaten the odds! This drive has worked great for me.
