I put four drives in but the server only sees one. Why is that?
This has an internal microsd port that, as i understand it, can boot the server. does that work? can i boot windows server from a microsd card?
Does this product come with 16gb of RAM with one slot occupied?

Game and Media servers for the family is a win.

I have to say setting this up was a tad bit time consuming. I use this server for our in home server, and Dedicated game hosting server. To give you an example of what this can do, this server is hosting 6 dedicated Ark Survival servers, 1 dedicated Space Engineers server, and 1 dedicated Valheim server. as well as hosting in home media server for photos, videos, music, etc. This is a great at home server box. Windows 10 pro is installed and I use the remote desktop feature to gain access to the server from my main PC. I had upgraded to 32 gig mem, ilo card, sound card and 1 4 tb SSD drive, 3 old school 4tb hard drives. Purchased on August 14, 2021 and it has been running for the most part 24/7 with zero issues.CPU temp most of the time is around 45 to 50 degrees, CPU clock speed is around 4200 MHzOnly thing I wish I was able to do was add more ram other then the 32 GB ram limit. All in all great in home server. I do recommend the next gen up for the 64 GB ram limit if you are some one like me that uses a lot of ram for the application that I use.

Capable but underpowered mini server, good for light duty applications

I bought this a few weeks ago to replace an aging PC-turned-server from 2010 that's well overdue to be replaced. The unit is nicely designed and easy to service and set up, however it is rather underpowered and lacking features for its price. This unit has a Xeon E-2314 CPU in it, which despite being recent (2021), isn't all that fast by today's standards. If you compare it to a desktop CPU, it's closest to a Skylake i5-6500 from 2016. Don't expect magic from it. This server is also sold with a Pentium G6405, which is an even slower processor that just marginally beats an i3-6100U in performance. It came with 16GB RAM, which if you're going to run VMs and containers isn't really enough. I put Proxmox on it, and 2 Windows VMs + the ZFS ARC cache caused it to swap badly. I ended up purchasing an extra 16GB RAM. It has 2 slots in it, and comes with 1x16GB installed, so you can add an extra stick in the empty slot easily. It takes DDR4-3200 ECC UDIMMs, which I was able to purchase an extra 16GB here on Amazon for about $45.1x1TB HDD is preinstalled, and I added 3 more 2TB disks to it. It has 4 bays. This is an "NHP" server (Non-Hot Plug), so you do have to turn it off to install/replace the disks. No RAID controller either (it does have "Vroc" but it's a software raid that requires Windows, you can't use it with a linux base OS so useless if you run Proxmox or ESX on it).Unit does not have an iLo standard, though an enablement kit is available to add this if you want it.The BIOS has some quirks as well, notably I had trouble getting it to recognize a keyboard to get into the setup.Overall, I'd recommend it for light duty/small office tasks. It can handle being a domain controller, VPN server, and file server, but I wouldn't do much more than that with this box due to its underwhelming CPU. If you need something beefy, get a normal tower server.

Great little server

Thing is super small (about the size of a toaster), quiet, has low heat output and has some power behind it, perfect for a home server. Max the ram out at 32G, buy the iLO PCI card and throw some large disks in it and you're set.Be aware support for these servers ends on June 2024 and you should update the firmware for the motherboard and iLO before then. HP's support page is barely usable and they demand you create an account and type in the serial numbers of every one of your products (iLO too) before they will give you firmware / security updates for any devices. Even then, actually performing the update is awful, their website barely functions, the update process requires their brand of specialized tools to work and is a massive time sink. Having run Dell servers for years, I didn't expect the level of support (or lack thereof) to be such a contrast with this manufacturer. Good hardware, awful teeth pulling experience to update anything unless you already run a bunch of HP equipment and have offline archives of all the content that gets taken down and moved around constantly.

Just a great micro server

Just a great micro server. One thing to note, this server (offer) in particular didn't come with an iLO interface.

I'll keep you posted.

the power adapter smells like burnt electronics, and the server came with 16gb or ram, however the specs say 32gb.let's see how this goes

This. Thing. Is. AWESOME!

Home lab in a small bedroom. Not a lot of space. I had a large Dell tower server that needed a hardware refresh. I saw a photo of an AMD processor version of this server on r/Homelab and started a search to find out what it was. It is TINY!My build is ESXi free and 2 VMs of Windows Server 2019 Standard. Zero issues with the build and after two weeks it is humming along. As a bonus, it fits in the bottom of my rack rather than taking up a bunch of extra space in the closet!I highly recommend this box if you are looking for a micro form-factor server.

Awesome little server

This is an awesome little server. I have tested a few different setups with it, and have added the iLO card to it. Being able to install an OS on it via the iLO card is pretty great, though you need to buy a license for the "advanced" iLO to make it worth while. I tested Nutanix, VMware and Proxmox VE on it, and all three installed and operated great on it. I ended up using Nutanix CE due to needing to learn a bit more about it.
