Treatment Kit to Stop Thumb Sucking by TGuard brand ThumbGuard (Large (Ages 7+))

We are on day/night 5 of using the TGuard for my 7 year old. We bought a size large, fits perfectly. The material is flexible enough to be comfortable around the hand and wrist. The only thing I don't like is the roughened texture inside the thumb cavity itself. If he lays on that hand the material digs into his skin a bit, but nothing detrimental.Our dentist recommended this to us at his last check-up. We looked it up and sat our son down and talked about it at length to see if he would want to try it. He was indifferent to it, 'agreed' just to get us off his back about his thumb sucking. Then it came in the mail, and he loves getting mail and was finally excited to give it a try. That lasted about 30 minutes of initial wear before the crying started. He tried biting through it, managed to nibble off some of the top. He was inconsolable for four hours until he passed out that night... without sucking his thumb! He didn't want to cut it off in the morning because he's stubborn so we left it on all day. He was able to do his usual daily activities with no issues EXCEPT for playing on the gaming console. So we took it off for that.Now, my son is not just a thumb junky and can't sleep without sucking, but any time he is idle, his thumb goes in his mouth. I watched him carefully throughout the day, and not once did he put his thumb near his mouth. That night he didn't protest to put it back on, and he even reminded me about putting it back on. It has been 5 day/nights and he's pretty much good to go in my opinion. He spent all evening without it on, never once tried to suck his thumb. I would call it a done deal and stop using it, but he is determined to wear it the 30 days to get his reward thanks to the cute star chart that came with the TGuard.

This REALLY worked. She could wear it to school and at night. Our daughter, age 9, who is TALL and big, could wear this. It sizes well to various sizes. It is SOFT! Which was PERFECT! After one month she stopped and her teeth moved back to normal position! She loved the star chart too, surprisingly Then after two months she started again. We are buying it again since this was the best way. I think she will have to wear the t guard for longer and consistently. She really does not want to suck her thumb, but it is such a habit, particularly when sleeping, reading, zoning out.

This device is easy to use and effective if used properly. You must ensure that the band around the wrist is quite tight or the child can easily slip it off and go back to thumb sucking- and as soon as said child hears her parents footsteps she might just quickly slip the device back over her thumb as if nothing ever happened :/ Also, after about 4 weeks of use this device became discolored and Gross looking and the plastic began to chip.

Worked for my 10 year old after 45 days! We had tried the orthodontist inserted wire device and this did not work. We did also use a wrist tennis type sweat band under the closing device to prevent rubbing. Always check weekly to see if rubbing is occurring. We put the star tracking chart inside the door to his dresser (private) so only we knew he was doing this. The goal included a big reward st end a skatepark camp! Really wish we had done this sooner to avoid the future orthodontist expenses. I sewed many socks onto ends of pajamas and this did not stop it. Please order and try it, you can potentially avoid thousands of dollars of expenses.

Nothing worked before we tried this. The child wasn't embarrassed to use it because it wasnt so bulky or obvious. It worked in one month. Now our girl can get braces. Thanks for a quality product.

This didn't do much for my very stubborn 6-yr-old thumb sucker. He chewed on it and wiggled out of it several times. The plastic is hard to keep clean. Easily adjustable, and convenient to have the bracelets that just get cut off. We ended up getting an appliance after a month.

I have a 5 year old and I tried this product for his thumb sucking within two days he had figured out how to get his thumb out and it was useless. I tried tightening it no matter what I did he was able to still pull out his thumb out. This may be a great product for younger kids but the older kids at does not work.
