I buy everyhing from Amazon, and for all products, there are always negative reviews so sometimes you never really know what you're going to get. I just got this translator today, and played around with it, and in my opinion, it seems to be great. I plan to use it for Italian however I tested the device myself today using French since I don't know any Italian, but I do know some French. I tried testing the translations in both directions, and it picked up what I said accurately both in English and in French with no problems. I only used simple sentences because for travel purposes that is all I anticipate using. I'm not planning on engaging in deep and lengthy intellectual conversations with this thing. Just stuff like "where is the train station" or "is there an ice cream shop nearby", etc. When I return from my trip in a couple of months, I can update this review with some real-world experiences and see if it stands up to the job.

I bought this item for my job. When playing around with it, translations were accurate. When I needed it, the translation was not close to accurate. I really wanted this to work.

Thie translator has made my worst dread of traveling to non english speaking countries disappear. i am not always the most careful person with pocket sized gadgets but no worry, this has held up during my travels. it took me 30 minutes to know how to use it and be comfortable doing so. i have found it mostly accurate when translating and, after some use, it was very easy to carry on a conversation using the translatir as the go between. it was, for its attributes, modestly priced. what i like most is instant translation.

Why I didn't buy this type of product years ago is beyond me. What a help this translator is with my Spanish speaking crew. After a few updates the translator has worked with little problems. If service is low I use the mobile wifi from my cell.

I use this to travel for business to South America. I am learning Spanish, but have a long way to go. My biggest complaint with this device is it only works maybe 50% of the time. It does not seem to matter if it is connected to wifi, or cell service, it just does not pick up what I am saying 1/2 the time. It is not that it is translating inaccurately, it is not picking up the words and translating at all.I end up using my phone many of the time and just reading or showing the person what my screen says.

The device would have to be placed right in front of the client which is not feasible, it is slow to process what is said and then to process the interpretation, due to the delay, the translation is Not accurate and does not make any sense most of the time. I went passed my time for returning it.. although I wish I could. Too pricy for the service.
