Amazon needs to package items properly
Nothing wrong what is contained on this cd, sounds good as expected. My stars are for the content! But, Amazon needs to learn how to package a cd properly, both were damaged. I would never order vinyl from Amazon, I can only imagine how many pieces it would be in!

Last gasp of 70s-era prog.
If Prog Rockers were dinosaurs, then UK came along in the late Cretaceous Period. This super group drew its members from former members of King Crimson, Soft Machine, Yes and Roxy Music. The opening trilogy, "In the Dead of Night," is the closest thing to a rocker on the album. The rest of the selections show the influences drawn from the members former bands. I can most distinctly detect notes of King Crimson and Frank Zappa-esque music throughout the album. Guitarist Alan Holdsworth's contributions are unique -- and that's an over- and mis-used word.Much has been said about other CD versions of this disk. I had the vinyl many years ago before going digital, so I cannot make a comparison with the vinyl, and I shied away from CD purchases until a copy of the Japanese pressing became available. However, in my opinion, it sounds very good. Drums, bass, guitar, vocals, keyboards and violin seem very well-balanced.It's not the greatest prog-rock album I own, but it's one I remembered enjoying, so I was glad to finally obtain a copy with good audio quality. Hard to believe it came out 40 years ago.

I have been waiting for this CD for twenty years!! One of my favorite prog-rock bands from the great prog-rock era of the late 1970s. My favorite drummer Bill Bruford along with his guitar-virtuoso buddy Alan Holdsworth, and former members of King Crimson John Wetton (bass, vocals) and Eddy Jobson (keys, violin) wrote some of the most interesting music together on this album, with chord progressions that stretch the imagination yet work together to make for an eminently listenable and enjoyable experience. If you love YES, KING CRIMSON, ALLAN HOLDSWORTH, or any music of that ilk, you should add this CD to your collection.

Between KC and Asia There Was This
This is one of my favorite prog albums. UK, for John Wetton, was a transition phase between his King Crimson days and Asia. It was great while it lasted.Unfortunately this album is still relatively unknown by the general music listening public. Many know of Asia but few, in comparison, know of UK.

The greatest super prog group ever.
The quality of performance and composition is amazing. Although other UK releases followed, this album was a once off, there was nothing else to top it.A 'must' album for any serious prog rock fan.

Good Debut Album
Sound quality is as good as the vinyl version, In my opinion. If you like Progressive rock? You should have this in your collection. I do like their second album "Danger Money" a little better but you should add this one to your classic rock library collection.
