Works awesome to get your nice big 27"iMac to be a monitor, no fuss, no muss, just plug and play.

I use it when I need to check video output streams quickly. It works great but gets really hot. There are free apps in the App Store that work well for this purpose. It's a fantastic addition to your travel bag for emergencies.

I bought this to use my iPad Air 5th Gen as an extra monitor for my work laptop (running Windows 11 Pro) on trips, and It works perfectly! I especially love that I didn't have to download anything to my work computer (Which is locked down by my employer from downloads) and just had to download one of the many apps from the Apple App Store for free.Perfect addition to my travel set up!

I have barely used it (4-5 times) and it stopped working. Dead as a doornail.

Using this on an M1 based MacBook. The device is plug and play, no drivers to install. Shows up in the hardware info app as USB 3.After a continuous run of over an hour, it was mildly warm. Using OBS Studio, it was trivial to add the HDMI video as USB source and the HDMI audio as USB audio source.Video/audio appear well synchronized. OBS using hardware encoding built into the M1 cpu creates a file of approx 650MB per hour.Tried various apps (Netflix, NBC, Prime, etc), had no trouble so far.

I used this with my iPad Pro to convert a dvd to digital. You will need to get an app but this adapter worked great.
