arrived in perfect condition, works great. The very first time it takes a very long time to warm up, several hours. after that it an be hot within 20-30 min. The base gets a little hot, best to put on a ceramic plate or something. It's quite tall, so needs to be put out of reach of cats, kids, wind etc. Wonderful colors, my son loves it!

Ah, the original lava lamp! The original and the best. This particular unit is known as Aurora Borealis and at first I thought that was referencing the base of the unit because it is colored differently than I've seen before, kind of a swirl pattern. The magic however is what happens in a dark room when the lava lamp is operational. This particular combination of fluid color and "lava" color produces effects on the walls that mimic the Aurora Borealis. Very interesting looking lava as it seems to change color somewhat and by doing that it shoots bright beams if you will of green color onto the walls in an ever-changing pattern just like the Aurora. I've always loved lava lamps but this particular combination of fluid and wax offers a truly hypnotic effect in a dark room. To truly enjoy the effect to its fullest the room must be absolutely dark. Place the lamp about 6 in from the wall to enhance the effect. This one will not disappoint!

Unfortunately, this lamp has a few issues. First off, the liquid is actually a dark teal color. Not blue, as in description, even says teal on the box! Second, it kinda flows. It'll get Stu at top for awhile, form bigger balls, then maybe drop. The wax color seems off. At the bottom towards the bulb it looks purple, but as it gets going. It looks like an off grey color. So, it's barely watchable, because the wax is hard to see. The wax also starts forming holes, like you get in a wall! I could even see thru some of them! Then some of the wax started turning clear as if you're blowing soap bubbles! This isn't normal lava lamp behavior. I know, I have a few vintage lamps that flow flawlessly! So, sadly, I'm returning this Schylling, made in China. I read old online posts not to try them, as others were asking if they were any good. Well, for me , they weren't. The base of the lamp was a cool idea, but in reality. It's too dark to enjoy. The picture they show here, in description is way brighter than it actually looks! The lamp was however, well packed, and even the bulb. The bulb worked right out of the box! A lot of reviews said theirs didn't. Sadly, this is getting returned.

The lamp was easy to assemble and easy to start enjoying. It's quite durable and should last for many years. It's fun to watch the wax make different formations. Nice color!

The media could not be loaded. I’ve only had this running about 7 hours after receiving it and I have to say I’m rather impressed. Usually my brand new out of the box lava lamps ( yes, lol I do have a lava lamp collection) take a couple to a few days of cycling 8-12,hours per night on average before you really can see their true personality and how they are going to perform. However, this one straight out of the box after only running a mere 7 hours is very impressive. The colors are great, there’s some blues, purples, and even a hint of a deep dark violet or fuschia color. After reading some reviews, I have to admit I was a little hesitant to purchase this lamp but I’m very happy I did. If anything changes I will definitely update my review but so far it’s working great. I would definitely recommend this to a friend or family member.

The instructions basically say to be patient while waiting for lamp to work properly. So I was. I plugged the lamp in every day for a week and it didn’t work. I asked for a replacement and was sent one. After plugging the new lamp in for 3 hours, it was working great! Super cute.

The teal and purple colors look even better in real life than they do in the photos here. As it starts up, the wax formations and shadows 100% remind me of an actual aurora! I've had this lamp for a year and a half now. Over time, the purple wax has lightened a little but I like it more now than I did when I purchased it in 2023.

I use this lava lamp as a nightlight each night and it gives the perfect amount of light. It has pretty colors. It does get hot but that's normal for a lava lamp and I only put it on at night time.
