Merriway BH02199 Cupboard Cabinet Turn Catch Latch, Chrome Plated 45mm (1.3/4 inch) (Pack of 2)

Merriway BH02199 cupboard and cabinet turn catch latch. The latch is chrome plated and is the 45mm (1.3/4 inch) variety. Unfortunately I didn’t measure mine, not knowing there was two sizes, so I have had to return this one for the 50mm (2in) variety.The latch isn’t of the same quality as my 90 year old one, where the spring has finally failed after all those years, the original has a backing plate whereas the new one didn’t, although this would probably make it easier to change a broken spring.The latch did work ok, but it would have meant drilling more holes and repainting the exposed wood. The catch is a turn action, twisting it either way will open the latch, you can then twist again to close, or just push closeI’m happy to recommend.

Bought this to replace one that was at least 20 years old and had gone rusty. This was an exact match and was a 5 minute job to swap.Had it a year now and there’s a couple of rust spots appeared, but you don’t notice them.All in all a good, cheap cupboard latch.

I like it, but I don't love it as the metal is quite weak. I had to replace one of these that I bought after a short while. If it's for occasional use of a cupboard latch it's just fine, but not so sure how well it would stand up to constant use. It looks nice though and pretty easy to put on, even for a female DIY dabbler like myself.

A simple smart latch. Easy to fit, but no screws supplied. Although strong enough for the job, construction felt a bit flimsy.
