Bought this kit to gild a Christmas gift. Took some practice to get the application method down but there are plenty of 'gold' leaf sheets to practice with and I still had a lot left over after applying about two square feet of gilding. Very happy with the outcome

We found this very hard to put on smoothly, but it was our first time trying to use gold leaf.

My husband chose this antique clock among his Mother's possessions after she died. It is 1906 based on the cast date on the item. I found a new clock mechanism that fit it and wanted to do something to make it stand out. I saw some videos on gilded projects and decided to try that. I still have to seal it so it won't oxidized, and peel off the painters tape on the glass. My husband likes it, so that is what is important. As a beginner I followed instructions and videos and had more than enough product to cover front & back.

While I like the glue and lacquer in this kit, the gold leaf itself is hands down THE MOST frustrating gold leaf I have ever used. It falls apart with the slightest touch, making it very difficult to lay down in a uniform matter. It disintegrates if you look at it funny...Using a water based sprayable adhesive is a must for me as I like to use an airbrush to get uniform coverage of the sizing glue to ensure that EVERY bit of what I'm trying to gild, gets solid adhesion for the leaf.This kit is reasonably priced but it's definitely not for a beginner.

I purchased a used Bombay chest that had a gold top with flowers painted on it. It had a few spots that were damaged or missing, and this kit was just what I needed. With both gold foil and gold paint, I was able to make quick work of those repairs.
