Tailgate Assist Shock for 2009-2019 Dodge Ram 1500 2500 3500

Simple install with simple tools. Very good instructions as well and works very well. Tailgate free fall may be a trivial thing to some but it sure won't catch you off guard once this is installed. And for the price....why not?

had to replace my 10 year old De_ Ze_ . this strut is weak. tailgate falls about 5 inches before it ever starts to slow it down. then it just barely slows it down. it probably won't last a year.

Had the DeeZee assist originally. Over 7-8 years it wasn't holding very well. $30+ cost to replace strut with same 'kit' was a bit more than I cared for so I removed it and went without for a few weeks. Yep, tailgate slammed down more than once due to my muscle memory...so found this one and took a chance. Fit perfectly. Functionally the same. The difference is that this item doesn't have the same lowering resistance. The tailgate comes down quicker - still controlled, just quicker. So not a bad thing and we'll see about it's longevity. For the price though, I'd give it another whirl unless ends up lasting like only12-18 months.

The media could not be loaded. Installed on my 2013 Ram 2500.Despite the lousy instructions (which appear to be for the older model or last generation Ram, and show what appear to be a Ford tail light and bed) and a torx tool provided that didn't fit my bolts, installed in about 20 minutes and it seems to work well so far. With the wrong torx wrench, and photos which differed from my truck, I initially questioned whether they put the wrong kit in the packaging. However the instructions say 2009 to current 1500 and 2010 to current 2500. In step 2 they show the same Ford tailgate as in the first photo where they insert the ball mount into the nutsert. It obviously is slighy different on my Dodge.In step 3, you are advised to "apply the threadlock to the threads of the ballmount. There's none priovided in the package and no mention of it in the parts list. In step 5, they say install the bolt through the hole in the ball mount, but show the ball mount going directly into the side of the bed. Only when you get to step 10 on the opposite side of the instruction page do they actually show the correctly mounted plate with ball stud.In step 7 they say to remove the motion limiter. The photo shown looks a little different but rest assured it needs to be removed. They also state that they ship a piece of mylar on step 9 to "protect the components from rubbing against the truck bed and tailgate". This was not supplied in my package. So in summary, in addition to what they provide, you will likely need the correct torx wrench or socket and some Locktite thread locker. I used blue in case I have to take it apart later. Hope this helps!

It works perfect and was easy to install

Installation of one of the blots to hold the tailgate is difficult.The shock is also cheap and does not last.

Just put it on. Works great. Hope it last long. Love the controlled opening. Should have came from the factory with this. I would buy again if it last.

This did not fit on my Dodge Ram 1500 truck

The anchor piece that goes into the tailgate broke shortly after install during the winter.

The wrench that was with the product did not work. Trying to attach the plastic part that goes on the tailgate cable recked the cable and never could get it on. The instructions were written really badly. Don’t buy this
