This works just fine. To slow down the flow, you need to tie a LOT of knots. Much easier to use than an automated watering system I tried out once. Just get some big containers (buckets, pretzel canisters, etc.) so you have enough water to last a while.

Soaks up water like it says! I set up a small experiment to see how well it would transfer water from one glass to another compared to another "self watering" rope I bought. This one worked as it should. In about 12 hours (I wasn't timing as exactly as I should have) it transfered 1/3 cup of water. In the pictures, this rope is the one closest to the camera. I was transferring water from cups on left to cups on right.

Was on a vacation and used these to water some of my plants, they stayed alive. Absorbency was outstanding.

Bought this rope to use as wicks for self-watering plant set ups. I have been using this product for a couple of months now, on plants ranging in size from 4 inch to 10 inch pots, and so far so good! I even have a couple plants that are drawing water from an external glass jar so there is a little distance for water to travel along the wick line. Good price and does what it needs to do.

I DIDN'T THINK THEY WOULD HAVE WORKED & I WAS CORRECT!!! MY "PEACE LILY" PLANTS "JUST SUCKED UP" ALL THE WATER AT ONCE!!I "DIDN'T THINK" THAT IT "WOULDN'T WORK" LIKE THE DESCRIPTION, BUT I WAS WRONG!!! I EVEN BOUGHT "EXTRA ROPE" FOR FUTURE USE!!
