-FIRST CHARGEI purchased (2 pack) these lights for my chicken coop, which is located in a dark area at the back of my property. I received these on Monday afternoon around the afternoon time. I placed the lights out of the box and into the sun light shortly after receiving them. They were in the sunlight for maybe 4 to 5 hours before nightfall. Given the minimal amount of sunlight these received, I fully did not expect them to have enough charge for the light to be bright or illuminate the area I needed, if any of it.-INSTRUCTIONS AND MODESOnce night fall came, I went ahead, removed them from the area I had them placed for the first charge and made my way to the coop. The instructions were simple enough for a second grader to comprehend. Simply take them out of the box, allow them to charge by placing them to receive sunlight, and then choose your mode.Mode 1: Continuous light illuminated at it's highest capacity.Mode 2: The light stays on steadily with a dim light, until motion is detected. Once motion is detected, the light shines at it's greatest capacity for (I Believe around 15 seconds).Mode 3: The light is completely off until motion is detected, if motion is detected the light will turn on to full capacity for around 15 seconds, then turn fully off.The modes are easily adjustable with a simple button on the back. Press it once, the light is in mode one. Press it twice, the light is in mode two. Three times? You guessed it, mode 3. Four presses of the button on the back turns off the light. I am using it in mode 3, which will be in the video, to hopefully deter any predators from around the coop.-LIGHTING AND MOTION DETECTIONLike I said earlier, the lights received minimal charge on the first night. I didn't expect much, but WOW was I blown away. The LED lights lit up much more than I thought they would even if they were at full charge. The motion detection is probably around 15 to 20 foot away if I had to guess. For the price, these lights are far beyond what you pay for.-DURABILITY, AESTHETIC, AND WATER PROOF (WEATHER)Given these are 2 lights for so cheap, the product has the lights and black plastic. Personally, I do not think they look bad, but they probably aren't suitable for the "upper class", fancy type.I cannot comment on the durability as of yet, due to having the product for just a few days, but I will say as long as you aren't throwing, hitting or some how abusing the outer protection area, they seem to will last for much longer than you'd expect for $12 lights.They have only been in one light summer shower this far, but once night fall came they continued to work and no water appeared to have damaged any of the product. This subject will be updated once I am able to speak on these in hard rain or storms.**The coop is not done. It is functional to house chickens safely and efficiently at the time.**

You may be aware that this type of fixture is offered by other manufacturers, and I've tried those. They have worked reasonably well but by no means were they without their issues.These particular lights are smaller and good for different applications. I needed light near a gate and our garbage bins, but not too big as the neighbor's bedrooms are 10 feet away. I don't wish to disturb them.They are easy to install and their settings are easy, too. Planning on ordering more right away.

The HMcity solar lights worked for my purposes. My porch light is having some electrical issues so it is very dim and sometimes blinks. I decided to put these solar lights between the front door and the garage door since the porch light isn't dependable. The coverage area of each solar light is very good. They aren't as bright as I was hoping, but they're more than adequate. Where I have them located, they don't actually get much direct sunlight so I have the lights set to come on only with motion detection (I think it's the third mode). So far, the lights work even with limited direct sunlight (and the brightness is the same as when I first used them after charging for a day in full sunlight).There are a few things that prompted me to give only four stars instead of five. First, the power/mode button is on the back. HMcity changed this with their newer versions, but as it is, the power/mode button on the back is quite inconvenient, especially if you place these high up. Second, the motion detection sensitivity is inconsistent. Sometimes the lights will come on just before pulling into the driveway and other times, they won't come on until I'm about half the distance from the driveway entrance and the light. Finally, on the mode where the lights come on only with motion detection, they stay on for maybe 15 seconds. I wish that was longer or adjustable.Overall, the HMcity solar lights do a good job. Perhaps the newer versions address the areas for improvements, but they are minor so not that big a deal. For the price, I think the lights punch above their weight class as the saying goes.

Easy to install on the chicken pen. The, 'trigger' level varies from unit to unit. One nearest the house comes on as soon as I walk outside at night, (great), but the ones farther away need a stronger movement to activate. I like the different settings provided but for me, the, 'Turn on and shine for a while' setting works best to watch for predators or chickens walking about early in the morning.

Would have given this 5 stars but I purchased a set of 2 and only 1 is working after charging all day yesterday in full sunlight. The one that works is really bright and I love it, wish the other one would work. Hope the seller sees this and will replace the broken one. UPDATE: the company reached out and offered a full replacement on my order - I am really impressed with this company as most of us know that is rare these days. I had ordered another set and got a replacement for the one that did not work. I love how these lights light up my yard as I am hoping with the motion detector along with the dim light switch will get critters to leave my yard and my garden, if it does not keep them out, it still is really pretty how they light up the yard at night - I love them.
