Must have for CCW if using a Maxpedition Pack
Im using a Maxpedition Kodiak Gearslinger pack in Khaki and this is a must have accessory for CCW Holders. The Velcro allows placement pretty much anywhere in the pack though I would avoid using too large of angles when placing the mag pouches because of its size. It will not sit completely on the velcro in the bag then and it could cause damage to something in the bag or wear at the bags back wall causing damage that could be avoided.Fits single stack magazines great as long as the are over .380 size. Smaller than that, like .22 magazines are a loose fit, you could theoretically stack them but pull one out and the other wont stay in. As another reviewer stated you could carry four single stack mags. Pull one out and the elastic band will snap down on the next magazine nicely. I probably wouldn't just because I don't want retention to be compromised eventually due to repeated stretching of the elastic. Works for double stacks as well. If for some reason your not carrying two extra mags, you can also place a surefire flashlight in it so you have a standby light if needed. Couple this with the Maxpedition Universal CCW Holster (Black), you have a great combo for a backpack CCW system. Though really I would just get a Crossbreed Supertuck and carry only extra mags in my bag.

Perfect piece of kit for holding extra mags in a bag/backpack
Maxpedition quality is usually very high and no exception noted on this mag holder. At first glance/use, the user may think the elastic bands are tough and hard to stretch. They seem to feel 'old' and stiff. It is my opinion that this is because the elastic material is of superior quality. Most folks have probably used inferior elastic material on other stuff where it is pliable and flexible. Those products usually lose their elasticity over time and the elastic doesn't work any longer to hold small objects. This material solves that problem.Full size double stack mags are held very tight. Most folks aren't going to access these mags very often if used in covert bags or discreet backpacks. If this is the case, I suggest putting the mags into position in the holder before placing the holder inside your backpack/bag. I had trouble putting the mags in after I had inserted the holder in the bag - it was just hard to get the mags into the tight elastic. The Velcro holds things in place as it should. I used this and a weapon retention holster inside a 5.11 Covrt18 bag with no troubles.

Holds High Capacity .40 Magazines Comfortably
I stick this sucker on the outside of my Maxpedition Pistol Case/Gun Rug for easy access at the range. The hook and loop is Velcro brand, so it functions well and remains secure. I was impressed actually, as I expected the system to move around while pulling on high capacity mags that are a tight fit. The bands keep elasticity, which is pretty cool... and they don't stretch out. Depending on the day and mood, I have a variety of mags that I use with this system ranging in size and weight. I also use this with my Condor II pack that has the rear panel compartment, awesome for carry and conceal. As with all other Maxpedition products, they are double stitched and made of high quality materials. Luckily this is one Maxpedition item that won't break the bank...

securly holds single stack magazines.
I use this in a Rush MOAB 10 (shhh, don't tell 5.11) and it holds two single stack 1911 magazines, flawlessly. These are my back ups for the two on my belt. I can turn the bag up-side-down and shack it and the magazines are still in the pouch. It fits in the concealed carry pouch, nicely, and there is enough room on the sides to get my hand on them easily.

Works.
With two double stack mags in it the sides lift up a bit but it doesn’t stop it from doing its job. Single stacks it lays flat. The thicker the mag the more it lifts. This also means the thicker the mag the tighter it holds, but I couldn’t get anything to slide out so it’s never loose and I had no problem getting anything I tried out.Lastly Velcro is super sticky. Overall I am satisfied.

Great when used for the proper purpose
This is great as a magazine holder attached to a loop patch within a pocket of a maxpedition (or other brand) bag. The key phrase is "within a pocket". Inside of a pocket of a bag, stuck in place, this will hold two doublestack magazines solidly and keep them from sliding around. It is pretty simple and it is well made. (Not in the USA, unfortunately...mine says Taiwan.)What it won't do is protect them from banging into other things. That is why it needs to stay in a pocket. Stuck on the outside of something, they are useless. Don't do that.Tip: to get a magazine in the first time, open up the loops and guide it from the opposite side with your other hand while you push it in.

Very Pleased So Far.
If you are in the market for tactica gear then there is a good chance you have not only come across maxpedition before, but would also be aware of the quality of their products.I purchased this as part of my off-body CCW (Don't worry, I carry on my person as well... one is none). At present this item is used with an Agency Glock 17 I spec'd out. The mag holder lives in the CCW area of my Vertx EDC Gamut (highly recommended). The mags really need to be shoved in there, but that's probably a good thing as, at least in my experience, things lose their elasticity over time. Should it initially slide right in I would worry that years of use would find it so loose as to no longer retain mags. No fear of that! Plus the mags are loaded with G2 Civic Duty (RIP's bigger brother), while the G 17 itself had a full mag of Hornady Critical Duty for legal purposes.I also have a level IIIA bulletproof panel in the pack (recommended) and tried maxpedition's universal CCW holster, which did not meet my needs. This review however is for the dual mag holder and it is working like a charm - the mags never move.
