The Heartbeat of Sichuan Cuisine
As an enthusiast of authentic Chinese food, trying NPG Premium Sichuan Pixian Broad Bean Chili Paste with Red Chili Oil has been a revelation. This paste is the soul of Sichuan cuisine, adding incredible depth and savory richness to everything I've cooked with it.Here's why I love it:Authentic Flavor: The fermented broad beans and chili oil create a complex, savory, and spicy flavor profile that's true to its Sichuan origin. A little goes a long way!Mapo Tofu Must-Have: If you love Mapo Tofu, this is THE paste to use. It takes the dish to another level.Versatile Ingredient: I've used it in stir-fries, hotpots, and even as a marinade for grilled meats. It adds a unique dimension to so many dishes.Quality: The paste has a great texture and the packaging ensures freshness. If you enjoy exploring bolder flavors, NPG Premium Sichuan Pixian Broad Bean Chili Paste with Red Chili Oil is an essential addition to your pantry. The second Sichuan Chili Oil
I bought another brand of oil before, it wasn't horrible, but this is much better in my opinion.NPG has more of a flavor profile, spice level is good. You get the tingly, numbness from the Sichuan flakes and peppercorns.

Good Stuff!! Nice balance of heat and flavor
Adds some spice/heat to dishes but heat is not enough to cover up the taste of the food it is put on. Some hot sauces are all heat, with minimal flavor, covering up whatever they are put on. This condiment adds some "zip" yet still lets the food come through. Have ordered this product several times in the last six months or so, we use it a lot when we make Chinese pearl meatballs, rice noodles, and with most Chinese foods. It is salty though so a little can go a long way if you don't like salt.

Really dislike the flavor
The flavor is so overpowering and gross. Not from spice. It just has a revolting taste that neither of my husband can stand. We had to get rid of it. We normally love chili oil/crisp

I ain't a chilly crisp or sichuan dish expert
So, one of the prominent issues I saw in the other reviews was bad shipping. My order was well packaged so there were no issues there.Everything was good from their side.I've just been hoping to experience the exciting sichuan tear and snot inducing spice. Maybe I was mislead.Anyways, spice-wise, not much. Actually, let me first clarify. I have an asian palate for spice so I need the real powerful stuff as compared to many of our western spice loving counterparts. So yeah, pretty much no spice. The numbing effect I heard about was another experience that eluded me.The peanuts and crisp soybeans were a nice touch until there was too much of it. There was soo much of them that my chili crisp content was reduced. And with the little bottle, every little bit of the flavorful stuff counts. So I'm not pleased that I have to ration my consumption so soon.Personal experience and my taste now says that if I ever cook with this, I need to keep the soy out or only put it in when the dish is done that way the soy will still remain crunchy. Now for the flavor. It's growing on me or I'm just that much of a beggar for flavor. I've only had one other experience with chili crisp and this one lost out in flavor. Lao Gan Ma's Spicy Chili Crisp had a flavor that I prefer to this one. But that's a criticism on my side. So they did their part right.
