ETA 6/13/23: The company contacted me and offered to refund my entire purchase price plus ship[ping, so there is that. While it was a hassle, I was made whole even though the system is garbage. At least they made it right, so I am somewhat satisfied. I still would not recommend this system to anyone.(original review starts below)bought this to replace a Smonet system that was dead due to lightning. This is nowhere near the quality that the old system was. The cameras won't stay linked to the base, the app won't stay online to view, the tech support is always busy and is available only after 5 pm pacific time. The cameras are crap. Grainy and really cheap. YOU can buy better camera systems for only a few dollars more.I'm sorry I bought this setup, buy something else, you can't do much worse for a wireless setup than this crappy system.If my woman hadn't hadn't thrown the box out I'd return these things.Seriously, buy something else. ANYTHING else. There are no redeeming qualities about this system.Absolute crap.

The system works great for home use and business use the picture is relatively clear night vision works good the setup is actually pretty easy as comes hardcoded out the box ips are non standard in the 172. Range so it is a issue if you plan to connect to camera remotely directly it's not for you the way you do it is connect remotely to the nvr system that the cameras are connected to on the computer I use VMS app there are others if you know what you are doing and setup a DNS forwarder like noip.com etc through nvr or a router /VPN downsides the picture quality could be better and hardware zoom or tracking but the program does have software zoom . This is perfect for home monitoring etc as well aswatching out for family members that may need assistance and are not able to help etc by remote viewing without a subscription cost etc.CompTIA A+Certified I.T Technician , EMS VOLUNTEER , AMATEUR Radio Operator.UNITED STATES

The only thing I don't like is that it didn't come with instructions which I'll have to find online.

I have installed several of Smonet systems over the past few years, the cameras and and the recorders have held up excellent, the app is a more standardized ip viewer than the previous apps that were used with smonet systems, but it seems more designed for phones and tablets, it will still work on computers, but the size of images are limited for use on a work station computer ,If they could get this system to work with IP pro app, you would be able to see larger images like the way the older Smonet systems worked. Overall I could not find a cheaper system with this many bells and whistles and the size of the hard drive, I will keep recommending these systems for surveillance installations.

I have been looking at a home security system for awhile and decided to buy this system for the reviews. Once I a received the system, I was able to install all the cameras and system in half a day. I'm not a rocket scientist, but I was able to connect everything and download app to my phone and see all my cameras. Took me about an hour to mess with the system to get it working on my phone. But it works perfectly. I went on vacation a day later for about a week. Its amazing to see who comes to your house when your not around. Picture perfect, I can see the person's face clear that comes to my door. The alerts on my phone to notify me that someone is walking up is awesome. I'm so glad I got off my butt and got a home security system. The price for 8 cameras is great. I have an extra camera that I hook up whenever we leave so we can check out the cats in the livingroom. Dont hesitate to buy.

This is my second SMONET system. I chose to buy another one for the higher resolution over the one I bought 4 years ago. They old one still functioned flawlessly. I see some complaint about the interface appearing dated but I am a relatively advanced user and find the system is very stable and capable of alot in terms of flexibility. For example the system allows for repeaters to extend the range of camera as well as using an ethernet cable and switching to connect cameras.The real reason I chose this system was the customer service. While the company is based in China which automatically causes a delay in email replies here in the US due to the time difference, they have always been extremely helpful. I've only had few issues over the years, but they have always been prompt and helpful in sorting them out. In fact on my new system I had a small issue and Sharon, from Smonet, actually called via Facetime from China to help me out!

This is my second Smonet security system and the camera quality is great. Setup and install was easy. I had an issue with email alerts but tech support ccontacted me andgot me squared away within 12hrs.I only view it on my phone or tablet so the Internet Explorer browser requirement wasn't an issue for me but may be for those using a PC so I didn't knock off any points for that. I wouldn't recommend this system for folks who are going to use it strictly on a PC until they support other browsers.Update - after testing I found that Chrome can connect and view video with limited functionality after setting chrome://flags/#Block insecure private network requests to "disabled".

I’ve had this system for a while now, and I love it, but recently it had stopped working correctly. I was really apprehensive about calling for tech support because it’s always a horrible experience, but I called anyway and after about 2 minutes of trying to understand what they are saying, I got frustrated and hung up. I received a text an hour or so later from my new best friend Charlie, saying he saw my call and could he help? He video called me, walked me through everything step by step and fixed all of my issues. It was by far the best tech support experience I’ve ever had.
