These worked fine for me as ESP32s, though I did have a quirky experience. When I first plugged one in with a USB C data cable to the mini computer I use for Arduino projects the built-in white power-on LED lit up. After I soldered on the pins, though, the light didn't go on; the chip still accepted my sketch, though, and the sketch ran with no problems. I also tested out the second ESP32 with the same cable without adding the pins and it didn't light up, either, so I don't know what was going on.
